Two Springfield women have been charged with first-degree murder and aggravated assault after a shooting outside a business and stabbing attack on a home, police said.
Police said the shooting early Saturday morning in the area of U.S. 64 and U.T. 14 in Springfield resulted in two women being taken into custody.
Officers were called to a business on U.P. 12th Avenue and West St. Charles Drive for a report of shots fired around 1:45 a.m.
Police found the two women, ages 22 and 22-year-old, suffering from gunshot wounds.
Police said the two fled the scene.
They were taken to a local hospital and are expected to survive, police spokeswoman Amy McClellan said.
They were identified by Springfield police as Kristen Press and Stephanie B. Williams.
A manhunt is underway for the women, who police said had no known ties to the Springfield area.
The two women were booked into the Springfield Detention Center, and were scheduled to appear in court Monday morning, police spokesman Sgt. James Taylor said.
